1 Week of Instagram Stories for One-Woman Shops

Running a shop by yourself is no joke. Between customers walking in, keeping the place stocked, handling orders, and maybe even trying to have a life, social media often ends up at the bottom of the list.

But here’s the thing: your Stories don’t need to be a whole production. In fact, the best ones are quick, scrappy, and simply give people a peek into your world. And you’ve probably noticed — people watch them. They reply to them. They ask about the products you show. That’s gold.

So let’s set you up with a no-brainer, weekly Instagram story schedule you can rinse and repeat. It’s simple, takes just a few minutes a day, and keeps your Stories consistent without adding stress to your already-full plate.

The 7-Day Story Plan

Day 1: Show What’s New

  • Snap a few quick photos and video of new arrivals, restocks, or seasonal items.
  • Upload your favorites. Keep the videos quick and engaging. Add stylistic text to photos.
  • Add a poll asking your audience their opinion – “Which color? [Green/Blue]

Day 2: Share Something Real

  • Tell a story of something you’ve experienced in business– the good, bad, and ugly!
  • Break the story up into short chunks of text spread over a few slides
  • Use photos and plain colored backgrounds beneath the text. Imperfect is okay!
  • End the story on a positive note, expressing gratitude to your community

Day 3: Customer Favorite

  • Pick one product you’re constantly restocking or answering questions about.
  • Post a short clip of yourself explaining why people love it
  • Add captions and title text to announce the topic – “New moms are loving this product”
  • Use the question sticker: “Want me to set one aside for you?”

Day 4: Shop Vibe Check

  • Film a short walk-through of your shop, even if it’s just 5 seconds.
  • Add a stylistic text overlay sharing the shop hours or offerings
  • Add audio that captures the vibe, or keep it real with the OG sounds

Day 5: Shout Out a Local Biz

  • Visit another local business like a café, restaurant, or shop you love
  • Share a cute photo of their product (your latte, lunch plate, or a gift you picked up) and tag them
  • Add a short line of context so your followers know why you love them!
  • The business will likely reshare to stories (and might want to return the favor!)

Day 6: How To / Quick Tip

  • Share the process behind how you make/use/style something you sell
  • Take photos of each step in the process and add text explaining step-by-step
  • (Or, film a quick clip of you doing it – if you can explain it in under 30 seconds!)
  • Example: “Here’s how I make iced matcha with the powder we carry.”

Day 7: Engagement Post

  • Throw up a fun poll or quiz related to your shop.
  • Have your audience compare or choose between items in a way that allows you to show them off!
  • Example: “Which candle scent are you choosing….”
  • This keeps your audience clicking and responding, so the algorithm keeps showing your Stories.

How to Actually Stay Consistent

Here’s the trick: don’t wait until the end of the day to remember you haven’t posted. Pick one small window each day (maybe right after you unlock the door, or right before you close) and use that as your “Story moment.” 2 minutes, done.

Pro tip: If you have a free 10 minutes, film two at once. For example, shoot a quick shop tour (Day 4) while you’re also showing off a customer favorite (Day 3). Save one to post later in the week.
